Your hostess, Virginia Duggar and her husband, Herbert were directly involved in the extensive restoration of the historic Grady Building from 1995 to 1998. They have continued since that time to significantly contribute to the success of The Consulate through its management.
Virginia and Herbert, early in their careers, worked in and around Apalachicola Bay in the seafood industry. In fact, for at least three generations their families have shrimped, oystered and fished the Apalachicola Bay. Virginia worked for twenty-six years in an oyster house as a shucker and Herbert has shrimped, oystered and worked as a boat captain. He later specialized in shrimp boat repar in dry dock. As the challenges in the seafood industry increased in the 1990's, Herbert began applying his great knowledge of all things mechanical in a new career in construction. Virginia used her exceptional organizational skills in managing Herbert's construction office.
All those skills were used and new skills learned in the extensive renovation of the Grady Building where Herbert and his crew recreated from scratch the intricate millwork, moldings, windows and other special features incorporated into the remarkable renovation. He was honored with a special preservation award for restoring the Grady Building. Each suite has a binder containing photographs showing the unbelievable transformation of the Grady Building accomplished by Herbert and his crew.
Herbert remains on-call to ensure that all things mechanical are fully operational at The Consulate.
Virginia is now responsible for all aspects of the operation of The Consulate. Wether you are planning an overnight, a longer visit or a special romantic weekend, Herbert and Virginia will do everything they can to make your stay truly memorable. They can be reached by calling:
